The Stranded by Sarah Daniels Blog Tour Book Review @thewritereads #TheStranded #AD

A huge thank you to The Write Reads, Penguin Books and Sarah Daniels for sending me a copy of the brilliant The Stranded to read and review for the blog tour!

Blurb:

Welcome to the Arcadia.

Once a luxurious cruise ship, now it is home to the stranded. For forty years, they have lived, and died, on the water.

A place of extreme haves and have-nots, gangs and make-shift shelters, its people are tyrannized by a country they can see but can’t get to. A country that says it doesn’t want them.

Esther is a loyal citizen, working flat-out for a rare chance to live a life on land. Nik is a rebel, intent on liberating the Arcadia once and for all.

Together, they will change the future . . .

My Thoughts:

Esther is sitting on the deck of the Arcadia, hoping that she’ll be on land before long. As she thanks Sim for the coffee, and pays him using her comgloves, leaflets start to fall from an upper deck, with news of another ship has sank.
But knowing that she could destroy her career, she can’t help being curious, as she picks up a leaflet, the Coalies appear, ready to arrest and interrogate anyone who touches, looks at, or is even within the vicinity of them.
Nik and May have to get to Neath territory, below deck, to escape the coalies that are chasing them, after being the ones to drop the leaflets. From there we are taken on a adventure, into the not so distant future…

I loved this book! I am obsessed with dystopian fiction, and this is definitely at the top of that genre. From the very start, you are thrown straight into the action. The book is written from each of the main characters perspectives, and I found it very easy, to follow the storyline, and get an understanding of each character, and their role within the book. I have to say, Hadley is an absolutely despicable character!

Brilliantly written, and so enjoyable. I literally read it within two days. I enjoyed it so much that I have already finished the next book in the series, The Exiled! Make sure you grab that as soon as possible, if you enjoyed this!
